Deanna
Glossup
and where she goes for treatment:
Deanna was diagnosed in 2003 at the age of 10 with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer usually found in children and young adults. Due to several relapses of her disease, there have been subsequent complications and many return visits to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital since 2003. Against all odds, Deanna is now entering into her fourth year of chemotherapy treatments. At the age of 14, she continues to fight her cancer with her infinite faith, her charmingly, uncompromising attitude, and her incredible determination that she will win this battle. Deanna is a very loving and giving young lady. She worries more about others than she does about herself. On days when Deanna and her family are at the hospital or the oncology clinic, they can be found wandering the halls of the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital with the desire of lifting spirits and doing things for the other children and their families who are confined to the hospital. One of Deanna's favorite gifts for the younger children is a stuffed animal that she has personally built for them at Build-A-Bear. The stuffed animal's name on it's birth certificate is the child's name who is the recipient of the gift. Deanna also loves to do age appropriate gifts for her teen friends who are also in the hospital.
